From the dawn of time, men have been fascinated by gadgets. Don’t believe me, take a look at caveman dad and his fascination with the wheel. Men love to tinker. Whether it’s working on the car, fixing something around the house or setting up their newest toy, we love messing around with things. Personally, I fall into the gadget dad category more so than any other. I love sports (GO STEELERS) and I love power tools and I even love reading…but at the end of the day, give me something new with buttons, a screen and batteries and I’m in heaven. So what about for your dad? Let me first warn you, there are only a few days left until Father’s Day, so make sure you spring for the expedited shipping if you are ordering online.

Couch Potato Dad
How about 42 inches of 240Hz LG LCD goodness?

it’s definitely a little bit expensive for a gift, but well worth the price premium over the slower 120Hz sets.

Don’t want to spend a grand on him, then how about the Logitech Harmony One?

I personally have this remote in my house and it’s worth every penny. If your dad isn’t very computer savvy, he might need some help getting it set up, but once it’s set up, it’s PERFECT.

Traveling Dad
I have testicles, I am a man. You might think otherwise after this statement. Men do get lost (sometimes). Every now and then, we don’t know where we are going. If your dad is one of the 5 people in this world that doesn’t have a portable navigation system, then buy him one. He might not admit it, but he’ll need it, and he’ll appreciate it. Personal brand preference here is Tom Tom. I’m a big fan of their Home application on my laptop and just like the look and feel of their interface. I suggest going with Garmin or Tom Tom however as some of the off brands use outdated maps and have glitchy performance.

I personally have the TomTom ONE XL and love it. AND it’s 66% off at Amazon right now (just click the picture)

Does pops have an iPhone (3G or newer)? Would have to give him a raincheck, since it’s not out yet, but TomTom also has a great mount and software for it now!

Outdoorsy Gadget Dad
Still on the navigation kick, dads that spend time in the woods killing animals or just getting away from mom, can always use a hand held navigation device. I know, you have a pocket full of breadcrumbs, but let’s just be safe here…

Garage Bound Gadget Dad
Wow dad, you’re too lazy to read a dial…here’s a digital torque wrench!

If your old man doesn’t have a radio in his garage, he needs one. How else can he listen to baseball games and NPR while does whatever it is he’s doing out there?

Yes, it’s ugly as sin, but it’s durable…and has an input for an iPod or other MP3 player.

Heineken Drinking Gadget Dad
Don’t think we really need an explanation here, just click it, get dad drunk.

I guess it’s not REALLY a gadget, but it does have an LCD screen…close enough, right?

Still stumped?
