lamborghini_gallardoI really hope that this hybrid supercar nonsense that has been floating around is just a pile of nasty rumors started by angry hippies who hate having fun. I’m not opposed to hybrids, in fact, I think the ego boost to their owners for thinking they’re saving the planet by getting better gas mileage is worth its weight in lattes. All joking about smug Prius owners aside, I still fail to understand the need for a hybrid truck or a hybrid version of anything that will ultimately average 20 miles per gallon. What’s the point really? A modern diesel engine in a Yukon or Escalade Hybrid would probably average 10-15% more MPG than the hybrid version AND have more torque. It’s marketing, I know…you slap a “Hybrid” badge on anything and the eco-chic factor is boosted 10 fold. What about on a $200k+ car? A Lamborghini should never have anything but 10-12 cylinders of gas exploding fury propelling it. But according to the sources below, a hybrid Lambo is coming…and a hybrid Ferrari. I suppose getting 10MPG instead of 7MPG while cruising around the streets of South Beach in your quarter of a million dollar sports car will not only make a statement about how much you love mother earth, but will also save you some change.  God knows, the kind of people that need to save some cash by getting an extra 3MPG are the same people that spend $250K on a car.

And a funny commercial from VW making fun of hybrids (I laugh every time that I see this):

So what does this have to do with being a dad? Not much, but dudes like cars.
